On Thursday evening, TikTok star Cooper Noriega was found dead in a Burbank parking lot. The cause of death is still under investigation.
Noriega was an advocate for mental health (on his social media), as he related to followers who struggled with depression and other mental health issues. He has over 1.7 million followers on his TikTok and over 400,000 on his Instagram.
Days before he was found, Noreiga announced that he was, “creating a Discord server dedicated to discussing mental health, which he invited his followers to join.” (People) He wanted to use this space to spread awareness about mental illness and create a safe environment where his followers could talk about their struggles.
Then, a few hours before his death, Noriega posted a video on TikTok which said, “Who else b thinking they gon die young af."
A GoFundMe page was started to raise money for his family to help with his funeral and to expand his platforms to “help people with mental health and addiction."
